About
Oxalis - the botanical name for the North American shamrock - finds its niche in the Celtic tradition of Ireland, preserving the time-honored tradition of musicians bound together by an affinity for playing the tunes that have been carried by generations through the years.
Oxalis brings together six accomplished musicians that feature:
- Tom Donovan – Flute, Whistle, Bodhran, Mandolin, Vocals
- Daria Donovan – Celtic Autoharp
- Ellen Campbell – Fiddle
- Linda Kodaira – Fiddle
- James Avgeris – Acoustic Guitar, Vocals
- Gene Simons – Bass Guitar, Vocals
Oxalis has been performing in Southern California since 2001 — from pubs & private parties to weddings & celebrity wakes — and has been a regular performing act at the West Los Angeles Civic Center Summer Concert Series since 2008. Other venues include performances at The Queen Mary in Long Beach, The Grove at the L.A. Farmer's Market, at Venice Beach for a district-wide inauguration celebration for an L.A. City Councilman, as well as for special event occasions at The Jonathan Club in Santa Monica, Two Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, Malibu Wines, McCormick & Schmick's (Pasadena, Beverly Hills and Burbank), the West LA Farmers Market, Queen of Angels Hospital in Hollywood, Daniel Freeman Hospital in Inglewood, and Long Beach City College.
Oxalis' latest CD "Old Ground" is a collection of Irish trad music performed with a contemporary slant.
